Swedish manufacturer OFFECCT acquires Möbeldesign i Tibro

Monday 23 December 2013

Offect has recently acquired 51% of Möbeldesign i Tibro, a company founded in 1985 and which has developed into a much sought after producer of upholstered furniture. Among its customers many of the leading interior companies in the Nordic region can be found, as well as numerous design producers with furniture for public as well as domestic space.
Möbeldesign has for some time manufactured components for Offeccts vast design collection and through this merger, both companies will be able to grow faster and deepen its knowledge in Swedish upholstered furniture production.
Möbeldesign has recently made investments in new technology, which will increase the flexibility and quality of the production even further, foremost in the cutting and sewing of textiles and the handling of leather.
“Through this merger, we can increase our production capacity and still maintain the high level of flexibility that is increasingly being demanded by interior projects”, says Offecct CEO, Kurt Tingdal.
“We will also be able to meet architects and decorators growing demand for custom made furniture and interiors, today and for the coming future”, continues Kurt Tingdal.
“Today, a big part of the production in public spaces is solely developed for a specific client and project, and through the increased collaboration with Offecct, we will expand our network of clients and architects in Sweden and internationally. We see this as a great advantage for our expansion”, says Möbeldesign CEO, Jukka Tallbacka.
The former management of Möbeldesign i Tibro AB will continue to be a shareholder in the company together with Offecct AB
Offecct was founded in 1990 by Kurt Tingdal, CEO, and Anders Englund, design manager. The head office and production is situated in Tibro, in the western part of Sweden. Offecct has 48 employees and a turnover of 123 million Swedish crowns. 55% of the turnover is made out of exports to 55 countries.
Over recent years, Offecct has gone through a rapid growth and holds today a prominent position among international design producers, which many of its international design awards bear witness to. The concept of Offecct is that through high quality and great craftsmanship, develop and design furniture that contributes to good communication that has a creative and positive affect on people – in meetings, homes and workplaces. Offecct works in close collaboration with a number of international and acclaimed designers and architects.
Offecct furniture can be found in numerous public spaces and institutions around the world, like Swedish Association of Architects office in Stockholm, MTV studio in New York, Microsoft in Hong Kong, Philips in Istanbul, MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art) in New York and the culture house Sfera in Kyoto to name a few.
