BIFMA receives ANSI Approval on new furniture standards

BIFMA, the US Business & Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Assn. announced it has received approval by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for a new edition of ANSI/BIFMA X5.4 Lounge and Public Seating – Test standard and ANSI/BIFMA X5.3 Vertical Files – Test standard.
BIFMA said the revised chair standard contains improvements in test consistency, modifications to test loads, and harmonization as applicable with sections of the 2011 chair standard (X5.1). The office and contract furniture association added that there were no substantive changes made to the vertical files standard.
