MillerKnoll celebrates first global ‘Day of Purpose’ on Election Day

ZEELAND — While many voters visited the polls Tuesday, Nov. 2, employees from MillerKnoll celebrated a Global Day of Purpose, which involved not only voting, but offering time and services to local nonprofits.

It was the second time employees at MillerKnoll in Zeeland, previously Herman Miller, were given a paid holiday on Election Day to “make an impact in their community.”

JASPER, Ind. — NeoCon, the world’s largest contract furniture and commercial design show, has had some recent losses with companies such as Steelcase announcing a move from the MART to the nearby Fulton Market district in Chicago, but today the facility can announce a big win.

Office furniture manufacturer Indiana Furniture has signed a lease with THE MART in Chicago to create a new Design Studio, opening in June 2024 in tandem with NeoCon, which will take place from June 10–12, 2024.

Lyreco launches Olympics furniture pre-sale

Lyreco has made available for pre-sale the office furniture it will be supplying for this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

As an Official Supporter of the Games, Lyreco is supplying furniture to the organising committee, international delegations and athletes. Products include tables, chairs, cabinets, cupboards and shelving units.

‘Lazy’ campaign adding plenty of perk to La-Z-Boy’s retail business

In fact, officials are just starting to get good and comfy.

Rob Sundy, chief commercial officer for the Monroe, Mich.-based brand, said in the first eight months of Long Live the Lazy, there’s been a lot to like.

Historic Indiana Furniture factory to be converted into apartments

JASPER, Ind. – Developers plan to convert a 119-year-old building that formerly housed Indiana Furniture’s manufacturing operations into an affordable multi-use housing complex.

According to the Dubois County Free Press, Krempp Construction, and Flaherty & Collins propose transforming the historic four-story building into 147 one- and two-bedroom apartments that would rent between $400 and $950 a month. The project’s cost is estimated at $40 million.

MillerKnoll reports decline in Q3 sales; reduces workforce

ZEELAND, Mich. – Office and contract furniture giant MillerKnoll reported $872.3 million in third quarter net sales, an 11.4% decline from last year. Last quarter, the company also reported an 11% decline.

Sales decreased across all three of the company’s segments, falling 9% in America contract, 10.4% in international contract and 17% in global retail. Orders for the quarter also fell, dropping 6.2% from last year.

Office furniture store owner eyes expansion

Israel Guerrero, owner of Continuum Office Environments LLC, is considering adding an additional location for his office furniture store.

After earning $1.4 million in revenue in 2023 and adding two more employees, Continuum has outgrown its 13,000-square-foot facility at 720 N. Fancher, north of the Franz Bakery Outlet and south of Broadway Avenue in Spokane Valley.
